Former Michigan football kicker Jake Moody had a career game for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers in a 32-12 season-opening victory over the New York Jets.

Moody – the Wolverine record-holder for field goals made – knocked down all six of his attempts on Monday Night Football, including two 50-yarders and two 40-yarders. He was also perfect on extra points, connecting on both of his attempts.

When it was all said and done, Moody accounted for 26 total fantasy points. The second-year kicker was tied with Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell for the seventh-most fantasy points – and most of any kicker – in Week 1.

Only Saquon Barkley, Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield, Jayden Reed, Jayden Daniels, and Anthony Richardson accounted for more points.

In fact, the third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft scored more fantasy points than 98% of the NFL in the season opener.

Jake Moody entered the season projected to be among the league’s best kickers

Jake Moody became just the fifth kicker since 2000 to be selected in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft. He lived up to the hype during his rookie season, converting 21 of 25 field goal attempts. He also knocked down 60 of his 61 extra point attempts.

Moody set the franchise record for the longest field goal made by a rookie with a season-long 57-yarder. He also set a franchise Super Bowl record by connecting from 55 yards. His success, combined with the talent on the San Francisco 49ers roster, led him to be projected as one of the league’s top fantasy kickers entering the season. He has continued to live up to expectations thus far as his six field-goal performance in Week 1 tied a franchise record.
