I’ve been saying for a few days that the change in the decision date by Andrew Olesh wouldn’t be a good thing for Michigan football, but on Monday, Olesh did decide to push back his announcement by a week.

This is according to a report from Brian Dohn of 247 Sports. He says that Olesh will announce a commitment on July 8th and that the decision is still down to Michigan football and Alabama.

The Wolverines hosted Olesh for an official visit on the weekend of June 21st. The four-star tight end from Pennsylvania is ranked No. 130 overall in the 2025 class and is fifth among tight ends according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The 6-foot-5, 212-pounder started trending with crystal ball predictions and expert projections following his official visit to Michigan football. Ranking as a blue-chip prospect, Olesh would be a perfect future replacement for Colston Loveland and as a high school junior, he caught 53 passes for 972 yards and caught 10 touchdown passes.

Does Michigan football still lead for Andrew Olesh?

There aren’t any signs indicating that Alabama has overtaken Michigan football for Olesh but there does seem to be less confidence than there was when the expert predictions first started coming in.

Some other decisions are looming such as Maxwell Roy, Hardy Watts, and Marco Jones, but all of those are expected to go against Michigan. Roy is expected to commit to Ohio State, while Wisconsin and Texas A&M are the favorites for Watts and Jones.

Michigan football caught fire on the recruiting trail in June, but July isn’t off to a great start.
