Few players on the Wolverines’ 2023 roster are more well-known than second-year starting QB JJ McCarthy. Heading into the weekend, the junior Michigan football quarterback was featured in a new Beats By Dre commercial alongside a few other prominent college football stars, marking yet another massive NIL move for McCarthy and the Wolverines.

Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy inks massive new NIL deal

JJ McCarthy has been the talk of the town in Ann Arbor, even before he put on the Maize and Blue. Now, after winning the QB1 job a year ago, the junior Michigan football quarterback is looking to make it three straight against Ohio State, three straight Big Ten Championship Game victories, and three straight College Football Playoff appearances for his team. In fact, this year holds national title-caliber expectations for the Maize and Blue.

Building up to the season, JJ McCarthy is now a member of the first-ever  “Beats Elite” class of college football players — he is one of 15 members in this year’s class. Below is the commercial that the Michigan football quarterback (and others) is featured in.

This is huge for both McCarthy and Beats, especially with the 2023 season just six days away. “As we’ve worked with our initial college athletes, we’ve realized how important it is for them to have brand support at that level,” said Beats’ head of sports marketing, Aminah Charles. “The industry is moving toward truly empowering college athletes, so we wanted to take a bigger swing in this area.”

Per the On3 NIL evaluation of JJ McCarthy, the Michigan football quarterback has an image worth an estimated $1.3 Million in NIL money right now. If JJ McCarthy leads the Wolverines to even greater success this year, potentially becoming a top quarterback nationally, who knows how high that number could go.
