The roster for the 2025 McDonald’s All-American Game came out on Monday, and it included 2025 Michigan basketball signee Trey McKenney. The game will take place on April 1 in Brooklyn, NY. The 6-foot-4, 225 pounder is ranked as the No. 1 player in Michigan, and nationally ranked as the No. 3 combo guard and No. 17 player overall, per 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Michigan signee Trey McKenney named All-American
The incoming five-star recruit is Michigan’s first to be named as an All-American since it had three in 2021: Kobe Bufkin, Moussa Diabate and Caleb Houstan. Those three didn’t suit up for the game, so McKenney could become the first to do so since Daniel Horton in 2002.
In the 2024 FIBA U18 Americup, McKenney was Team USA’s second-leading scorer (10.8 ppg) en route to a gold medal. As a junior at St. Mary’s (Orchard Lake, Mich.), McKenney led the Eaglets to an MHSAA Division I state title, averaging over 20 points and 10 rebounds on the season. He said Michigan head coach Dusty May sees him as an important part of the future of the program.
“Dusty has been making me a priority ever since he got the job,” McKenney said last fall. “His players are buying into what he’s bringing into the program. It’s also the hometown school, so it’s definitely a good option for me. They’re trying to make me a focal point in their program and be one of the guys to push it forward.”
McKenney became his school’s all-time leading scorer this season, and although he’s been battling a hand injury, he could be in the mix for Mr. Basketball.
