U-M's new men's basketball head coach Dusty May speaks during introductory press conference at Junge Family Champions Center in Ann Arbor on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Michigan men’s basketball added international talent on Wednesday as New Zealand native Oscar Goodman officially committed. Goodman is a four-star 6-foot-7 power forward that chose the maize and blue over Georgetown, Ohio State and Texas Tech. Goodman attends the NBA Global Academy in Auckland, NZ, and is ranked as a top 100 player in the class of 2025.

Head coach Dusty May is setting up the 2025 roster to have length at every position. Goodman should be able to guard multiple positions on the court, which would allow May to plug him in for different situations. Goodman joins small forward Winters Grady as May’s first two commitments for 2025.

Oscar Goodman on Why he Chose Michigan

“I chose Michigan because of how my role would translate to their style of play and essentially I could just see myself succeeding there. Coach May is awesome! He’s very into it and broke a lot of things down for me to show how I would impact the team. I’d say I’m a versatile player who can put the ball on the floor, can step out and shoot the 3 and I use my size to my advantage with mismatches. The fans can expect me to bring a lot of energy offensively and defensively, love to do the small things that don’t go on the stat sheet.”
