Michigan basketball ‘heavily involved’ with another NBA legend’s son

Michigan basketball technically only has one scholarship spot left, but head coach Dusty May isn’t recruiting like it, with a number of targets still on the board for the 2024-25 roster.

Vlad Goldin is still expected to commit to Michigan basketball. It hasn’t happened yet. But according to a college hoops insider, it would be “surprising” if the 7-foot-1 center ended up somewhere else.

That would put Michigan basketball at 13 scholarship players. That’s assuming that Jace Howard and Nimari Burnett are coming back. But Mike Boynton, a U-M assistant coach for May, said in an interview, that no decisions have been made by those guys.

Michigan basketball is in the mix for another son of NBA legend

So there could be another spot and if there is, Michigan basketball might give it to another son of an NBA legend in Andrej Stojakovic — the son of NBA All-Star Peja Stojakovic. According to Jeff Borzello, the Wolverines are among the teams “heavily involved” along with Cal, North Carolina, and Kentucky.

Like his dad, Stojakovic is a big wing, and last season he averaged 7.8 points per game for Stanford and shot 32 percent from 3-point range. He’s a talented scorer though and would give the Wolverines another player with tremendous upside on the wing.

The numbers from last season aren’t great. But playing around Goldin, Danny Wolf, and the rest of the roster that May has put together, would be ideal for Stojakovic. He’d get plenty of open looks. The freshman took about a third of his shots at the rim, so he’s another player who can get his own shot, be featured in ball screens, and knock down 3-pointers. He’s also 6-foot-7 and right now, the Wolverines’ best wing options are Ryan Walters and Rubin Jones.

Stojakovic would be a better fit and another guy with multiple years of eligibility. He’s also a former McDonalds All-American and all I can say is let Dusty cook.
