Michigan football had one of the top defenses in the country this season (14th in FBS in ypg), and a few of its stars are headed towards a first-round selection in April’s NFL draft. Defensive ends TJ Guy and Derrick Moore decided to run it back, as both plan to return for the 2025 season.

TJ Guy and Derrick Moore plan to return to Michigan

Guy had 29 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 2024, including three sacks in the last three games. Only defensive end Josaiah Stewart had more sacks on the year (8.5). Guy has been with the Wolverines since 2021, and he increased his tackle total in every season. Guy, a senior, will return as a graduate.

Moore, a junior, accumulated 19 tackles, two pass deflections and two sacks this season. As a sophomore he had 34 tackles, two pass deflections, five sacks and a forced fumble. In his career, Moore has 61 tackles, five pass deflections, nine sacks and one forced fumble.

Moore hurt his draft stock in 2024, but a strong senior season could see it rise into the top three rounds.

“I want to leave Michigan the right way,” Moore told MLive ($)

Michigan can operate more selectively in the transfer portal with the return of Guy and Moore.
