While Michigan has struggled on the field this season, it’s been picking things up in recruiting. A myriad of top recruits have been on the sidelines at the Big House this season, and the same was true last weekend. One of the high school players in attendance was 2025 four-star running back Javian Osborne (Forney, TX). Osborne is ranked in the top ten at his position across every recruiting platform.

Michigan High on Javian Osborne’s List

Osborne visited Ann Arbor for the third time last weekend and raved about the culture.

“It was great,” Osborne said. “Being able to talk to Coach (Sherrone) Moore, Coach TA (Tony Alford) and Coach JB Brown was awesome. They really made the University of Michigan feel great. From the football to the campus to how they showed me how I can be utilized, I’m learning something new every time I go up there. From the run game to special teams, I’m always learning. Despite the loss, it was an awesome, great visit. It was fun.”

New: Michigan Football Will ‘Attack’ Recruiting This Offseason

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore has been heavily involved in recruiting, and it has resulted in several highly coveted players pledging to the Wolverines. Osborne said he’s taken notice of what Moore has done.

“Speaking with Coach Moore was great,” Osborne said. “He’s a great guy. He’s a great coach as well, but from speaking with him, he’s just a great overall dude. I know this year has been rough. They are in a rebuilding stage. They graduated a lot of people last year. But they’ve been getting a lot of guys in recruiting like (Shamari Earls) and my guy Jaylen Pile. Seeing what Michigan has in the future, there is no worries. The future is looking really bright for Michigan. You also have Brady Hart as well and a five-star offensive lineman (Andrew Babalola).”

Connections Count

Michigan might have a leg up on other schools because of 2025 four-star wide receiver commit Jaylen Pile (Dallas, TX). Pile and Osborne are both from Texas, but the connection goes beyond their geographical link.

“Me and Jaylen have known each other since eighth grade,” Osborne said. “We played on the same 7v7 team. We’ve kept building that relationship. His dad, Willie Pile, showed me a picture on the visit, and he said ‘look, these are the new triplets.’ It was Brady Hart as Troy Aikman, Jaylen Pile as Michael Irvin and me as Emmitt Smith (laughs). It’s funny. They are definitely recruiting me.”

The ‘triplets’ – Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin and Emmit Smith – led the Dallas Cowboys to three super bowls in the span of four years. Dallas and Ann Arbor are rather different places, and so are the cultures of the football teams that play there. The Cowboys are known for being flashy, and the Wolverines represent midwest toughness.

Osborne doesn’t seem to mind a different perspective.

“Michigan is obviously high on my list,” Osborne said. “They don’t have the glitz and glamor. It’s straight business with football. They can make you into a complete back. Learning what Coach TA preaches to his backs is awesome. That’s what I love about Michigan. That’s what makes them a big contender in my recruitment and one of my top schools.”
