Momentum in recruiting can be a very fluid thing. One minute you have it — another you don’t. Well, after losing it momentarily, Michigan football has it back.

The Wolverines are trending for the commitment of four-star tight end Andrew Olesh who will announce his school of choice on Monday. All signs point to Michigan football being the choice among a final four of U-M, Alabama, Florida, and Penn State.

Olesh is 6-foot-5, 212 pounds. He’s the No. 4 tight end in the 2025 class and is No. 121 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Olesh would be the third pledge ranked in the top 121 overall for the Wolverines, but others could be joining the class soon. Four-star safety Ivan Taylor, who is ranked No. 50 overall and fifth among safeties in the 2025 class, has been projected to flip from Notre Dame to Michigan.

Taylor is 6-foot, 174 pounds out of Winter Garden, Florida. The On3 prediciton machine should start favoring Michigan after Steve Wilftong and others put in picks for Taylor to flip. Now the crystal balls are starting to switch to Michigan football too.

Michigan football could get hot again “soon”

Wiltfong actually had a few positive updates for Michigan football. The On3.com recruiting expert said the Wolverines have been making progress with five-star Andrew Babalola. Stanford has been the leader but Michigan makes a lot of sense and a decision could come any time according to Wiltfong.

Wiltfong said he felt good about where Michigan stood with Olesh and also top-100 wideout Andrew Marsh out of Texas. Plenty of fans have criticized Michigan football recruiting but if the Wolverines are able to get Olesh, Taylor, Marsh, and Babalola they would have six commitments ranked in the top 121 overall and seven in the top 160.

There’s work to do in order to make that happen but as Wiltfong posted on X, “Michigan could get hot again on the recruiting trail real soon.”
