New: What to know about Michigan football halfway through transfer portal window

Transfer linebacker Troy Bowles commits to Michigan

Bowles is the son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles. His brother, Todd Bowles Jr., is a junior cornerback for Long Island University. Bowles is listed at 6-foot-0 and 204 pounds.

Bowles recorded five tackles as a freshman last season, and he was a four-star recruit coming out of the class of 2023. According to On3’s industry rankings, Bowles was a top 90 player in his class and ranked seventh among linebackers.

Bowles is the sixth player to sign with Michigan in the transfer portal, joining wide receiver Donoven McCulley (Indiana), defensive back and brother duo TJ and Tevin Metcalf (Arkansas), offensive lineman Brady Norton (Cal Poly) and most recently defensive lineman Damon Payne (Alabama).

The portal window is set to close on Dec. 28. The Wolverines are still in search of a veteran quarterback, and they have their eyes on top players at other positions as well.
