Ron Bellamy has reportedly agreed to a new two-year deal with Michigan football and was given the title of passing game coordinator.
One of the best things Jim Harbaugh did when he was Michigan football head coach was bring in some truly stellar assistant coaches.
Former Michigan football player Ronald Bellamy was one of them. He was hired by Harbaugh after the 2021 season originally to coach defensive backs.
Bellamy eventually went to the offensive side of the ball to coach wide receivers. Now, Sherrone Moore has extended his contract according to Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider.
Lorenz reported on X that Bellamy has agreed to a two-year extension. He’s also been named the Wolverines passing-game coordinator.
Sherrone Moore’s staff nearly finalized
Bellamy has been on the Michigan football coaching staff for all three Big Ten championships, as well as the national championship run last season. He was also key in the development of wideouts like Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson, plus younger standouts like Tyler Morris and Semaj Morgan.
Moore’s coaching staff is now essentially complete. There hasn’t been any specific word about Mike Hart, but indications are that he’ll return next season.
The defensive staff hasn’t been announced just yet. Michigan is taking more time on background checks after some hiring snafus according to Josh Henschke. However, Gregg Scruggs (D-line), Brian Jean-Mary (LBs), Lamar Morgan (Secondary coach), and Wink Martindale (DC) should be announced soon enough.
It’s all coming together but the sooner everything is officially announced, the better.
