Ohio State Buckeyes cornerback Davison Igbinosun (1) locks up with Michigan Wolverines tight end Max Bredeson (44) during the NCAA football game at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024. Michigan won 13-10. Syndication: The Columbus Dispatch.

Michigan football was more physical than every team it played down the stretch in 2024, and arguably no player embraced it more than fullback/tight end Max Bredeson. On Wednesday the senior captain announced on Instagram he’ll be returning for his final season. Mainly used as a blocker, Bredeson has 10 catches for 121 yards in his career.

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore talked about what Bredeson means to the program the day before the ReliaQuest Bowl.

“Yeah, he’s the ultimate competitor, ultimate leader, everything you want in a captain and a guy you want on your team, as physical of a player in college football I would say, and he’s everything you want from a leader on your team,” Moore said. “He impacts our team not just on the field but off the field in huge ways and making sure the locker room is aligned in every single way.

“I just can’t speak highly enough about that young man, and just excited for his future and making his determination, whatever he does.”

Bredeson was a key factor in Michigan’s win over Ohio State in 2024, as it ran behind him to the tune of 172 yards. The Wisconsin native will look to move to 5-0 in ‘The Game’ in 2025.
