Michigan football jumped a spot in both polls this week.

Here’s a look at where they ranked.

New Michigan Football Rankings in the AP & Coaches Poll

The Associated Press (AP) updated its rankings on Sunday, and the Wolverines (4-1) moved up to No. 10 after beating Minnesota, 27-24, the day before. The new coaches poll also has the Wolverines at No. 10.

It’s the first time Michigan is in the top 10 since being in the same spot after Week 1. The Wolverines fell as far as No. 18, following consecutive disappointing weeks that included a loss to Texas and a marginal 28-18 victory over Arkansas State in Week 3.

Where Big Ten Teams Ranked in the Polls

The Big Ten has seven teams inside the Top 25 following week five. Ohio State (3), Oregon (6) and Penn State (7) are all ahead of Michigan. USC came in at No. 11 right behind Michigan, and Indiana (23) and Illinois (24) round it out for the Big Ten. The Hoosiers haven’t been ranked since the 2021 preseason poll.

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) is the only conference with more teams inside the Top 25 with eight, including four out of the top five teams in the country. The Big 12 has the next most with four teams ranked ahead of Week 6.
