Michigan (5-4, 3-3 Big Ten) couldn’t handle the juggernaut of No. 1 Oregon (9-0, 6-0) Saturday as it came up short 38-17. It seemed like Michigan was going to be able to hang around in the first half, but the Ducks ultimately imposed their will.

The Wolverines started the game with the ball and went three and out before two minutes had gone off the clock. Oregon proceeded to put together a 12 play drive ending in a touchdown. Michigan got the ball back and punted after three plays again, but a forced fumble on the ensuing punt return gave it the ball on Oregon’s 28 yard-line. The Wolverines took advantage with an impressive touchdown grab by wide receiver Tyler Morris to tie the game up at 7.

Oregon scored a touchdown on three of its next four drives and began to run away with the game by halftime (28-10). Michigan was able to score on its first drive of the second half, but it couldn’t get anything to work after. The Ducks outgained Michigan 470-270.

Although the game wasn’t free of mistakes, Michigan managed to finish with zero turnovers for the second game in a row. Quarterback Davis Warren only completed 13 of 23 passes, but his two touchdowns offer some optimism in terms of his progression. Running back Donovan Edwards led Michigan in rushing with 52 yards.
