With the 2023 season fast approaching, Michigan football running back Blake Corum had a chance to speak with the media on Thursday. Both he and junior RB Donovan Edwards are coming off injury right now, though when healthy, form the nation’s top running back duo. Yesterday, Corum updated us on how Edwards is looking in camp and more.

Final Michigan football fall camp update on Donovan Edwards

Tomorrow, Michigan football fans will wake up and be exactly one week from the beginning of the 2023 season in Ann Arbor. Yesterday, Blake Corum spoke with the media — here is our latest (and likely final) fall camp update on running back Donovan Edwards, who could see a number of vital roles throughout the coming season.

“We were actually, after practice yesterday — it was yesterday or two days ago — we were working on some moves,” Blake Corum said of Michigan football junior running back Donovan Edwards. “But Don (Donovan Edwards), he has it all. He’s the complete package. He has every tool in his box that he needs. He has that shimmy; it’s just refining. We learn from each other.

“From him, I learned a lot,” Corum continued. “How precise can I be on my routes? He’s a really good route runner. For me, he wants to — ‘What’s that move you’re using?’ So we feed off each other. He’s a heck of a running back. He’s gonna have a great year. I’m excited to see what he does this year. He’s been putting in the work. I expect greatness from him. Like I said, Don has everything in his toolbox.”

Blake Corum and the running back room will be a deciding factor for the Wolverines throughout the 2023 season

Throughout the 2023 season, Michigan football needs both members of its elite running back duo — Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards — to be on their A-game. Despite injury issues last year, Edwards and Corum guided the Maize and Blue to a 13-win season, a Big Ten Championship, and a College Football Playoff berth.

While these are all fantastic accomplishments, Michigan football is gunning for a national title this year, and these two will play a major role in how far the Wolverines will go. Ideally, these two (along with Michigan’s elite offensive line) will become top NFL Draft targets this year, guiding the Maize and Blue to another win over Ohio State and much more by season’s end.
