ANN ARBOR, MI — Michigan football has been red hot in recruiting this offseason, landing big names such as five-star recruit Jadyn Davis. If this wasn’t good enough, things are about to heat up even more. Today, the Wolverines hired Shemy Schembechler, Bo Schembechler’s son, as a new assistant director of football recruiting.
Michigan football hires Bo Schembechler’s son, Shemy, to recruiting staff
Earlier today, Shemy Schembechler, the son of long-time Michigan coach Bo Schembechler, announced that he will be joining Michigan’s recruiting staff moving forward. Schembechler had previously worked at the NFL level for scouting and is a huge addition to the Wolverine front office.
As it currently stands, Michigan already holds the number one overall 2024 recruiting class. The future of Michigan football is in a better place than it has been in a lot of years, and having a former NFL scout only makes the potential even greater.
Schembechler’s Path to the Wolverines
Schembechler originally received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Miami Ohio, which is coincidentally (or not) where his father began his coaching career. He then worked as an assistant recruiting coordinator for Michigan very briefly in the 1993-1994 season before moving to the NFL.
He worked for the Chiefs, Bears, Commanders, Seahawks, and Raiders over the course of his 20+ year NFL scouting career.
