Michigan football was in the news on Saturday but mostly for what was going on at the NFL combine. However, there were some important things to follow on the recruiting trail. First, there was the not-so-great news that David Sanders, a five-star offensive tackle, eliminated Michigan from his top six.

Yet, the news wasn’t all bad for the Wolverines. Michigan football made the cut for another blue-chip prospect in the 2025 class and that’s four-star wideout CJ Wiley. Out of Alpharetta, Georgia, Wiley is 6-foot-4, 190 pounds. He also runs the 100-meter dash in just over 11 seconds. His ranking is all over the place but that’s due to a three-star rating from 247 Sports. He’s ranked 210th overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings. According to the On3 rankings, he’s a top-100 prospect.

The other teams that made the cut are USC, Colorado, and a bunch of southern schools such as Georgia, LSU, Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss. The Bulldogs have the early lead according to the On3 prediction machine but there haven’t been any expert projections yet. Michigan football is fourth according to the prediction machine with a nine-percent chance to land his commitment.

The Wolverines have hosted Wiley for three unofficial visits. Georgia has had him on campus five times, but that’s not a shock for the in-state school. It will be interesting to see if Michigan football can get him back on campus this spring, as well as up for an official visit in the summer or fall.

Alabama and Florida State are the other top contenders via the On3 prediction machine. Wiley has visited Georgia and Alabama this spring but not Michigan football yet.

Michigan football also makes the cut for three-star O-lineman

Kaden Strayhorn, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound offensive lineman in the 2025 class announced a top-12 recently and the Michigan Wolverines made the cut for the prospect with ties to Michigan State. The Spartans are the leader via the On3 prediction machine but Michigan football is second and has hosted Strayhorn for multiple visists.

Strayhorn was born and raised in Detroit but now plays for the IMG Academy in Florida. USC, Ohio State, Texas, and Tennessee are among the other programs to make the cut. According to Zach Libby of On3.com, Michigan football pushed itself in the top five when it hosted him for the Ohio State game in November. Strayhorn doesn’t have a visit scheduled for Michigan football, but does have trips to Florida, Alabama, and Georgia upcoming.
