Michigan football is expected to pick up another commitment this week from in-state offensive lineman Avery Gach. However, that might not be the only one in the near future.

Ever since the hire of Tony Alford as the running backs coach, Michigan football has been trending up with recruits at the position, especially four-star Marquise Davis from Ohio.

One thing you can say confidently about the Wolverines is they are recruiting Davis harder than any other program. that’s at least what he told Kyle Kelly on On3.com.

Michigan football is the favorite for Marquise Davis

Michigan football is currently the leader for Davis thanks to a slew of recent crystal ball projections. The Wolverines also have a commanding lead according to the On3 prediction machine. The 11th-ranked running back in the 2025 class (165th overall) at 6-foot, 210 pounds out of Cleveland, would be a huge get for the Wolverines.

Ohio State was in a more favorable position for Davis when Alford was the coach there, but that’s changed. Ohio State also has other highly-ranked targets they are pursuing. But landing Davis would still be huge for Michigan. He told Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider that a decision could come “soon.”

He also talked about how much Michigan football runs the ball. That should be a selling point for any running back. The Wolverines have some of the best offensive line development in the game, plus a commitment to running the ball that few other programs have.

Kentucky is one of the top contenders. Ohio State’s new RB coach is also expected to visit Davis soon, so the Buckeyes aren’t giving up yet. But it feels like Michigan is in the pole position and maybe the race will have a winner soon.
