Michigan football recruiting is trending up in the 2025 class. That’s not debatable after the Wolverines jumped up to 11th this week in the 2025 rankings (via 247 Sports).
Michigan football is ranked eighth among average rating per commitment. The Wolverines are also sixth in the 2025 class in terms of blue-chip commitments. They have 13 already and it feels like they will easily outpace the 16 blue-chip recruits Michigan signed in the 2024 class.
That was a solid haul but this group could be much better. Not only do the Wolverines already have three top-100 commitments, but they are projected to land another in four-star wideout Andrew Marsh.
Could Michigan football land a five-star offensive tackle?
There is also a chance that Michigan football could add a five-star commitment to the 2025 class. Michigan has been making progress with offensive tackle Andrew Babalola, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound prospect out of Kansas. Sherrone Moore is also from Kansas.
Stanford has been the leader but Michigan is gaining momentum. Greg Smith, a Midwest recruiting expert for Rivals, even revealed in a fact or fiction debate that he believes that the Wolverines are the leader for the five-star offensive tackle ranked 27th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
“Michigan is still in on a lot of quality recruits including four-star offensive lineman Andrew Babalola who I believe the team leads for right now,” Smith wrote.
Recently, Steve Wiltfong of On3.com said that Stanford led Michigan “by an inch or two.” But the Wolverines can offer elite academics, as well as a national championship football program that regularly produces NFL draft picks, particularly along the offensive line.
It seems like a decision is coming sooner rather than later so keep an eye on Coach Moore’s feed on X because if you see a #GoBlue and a #Smash, it could mean Michigan has landed a five-star recruit.
