Michigan football legend Desmond Howard, a Super Bowl MVP and a Heisman Trophy winner, is one of the only people at ESPN who has been standing up for the Maize and Blue as of late. On the other hand, ESPN and SEC Network host Paul Finebaum — one of Jim Harbaugh’s biggest critics — has been taking some incredibly bold and negative stances on the Maize and Blue over the past few months, especially since the Connor Stalions news broke. Howard has some thoughts — strong thoughts — on Finebaum’s latest antics when it comes to his alma mater.

Michigan football legend Desmond Howard grills Paul Finebaum

If you wanted to hear a brutally honest take on Paul Finebaum from someone who isn’t anti-Michigan football, Demond Howard gave just that when talking on the Rich Eisen Show this week.

“Paul Finebaum is a caricature of a caricature of Paul Finebaum,” Desmond Howard told fellow Michigan alum Rich Eisen. “That’s what he is right now. You can’t take anything he says seriously. You just can’t. It’s like they march him out there, they pull the string in his back, and he just starts spewing negative things about Michigan.

“When a person does that repeatedly, and you just know his shtick, you can’t take him seriously,” the Michigan football legend added. “You take him for what he is. And that’s how I look at Paul Finebaum.”

Finebaum, ESPN have been overly negative about the Wolverines

Desmond Howard really didn’t hold back here, but then again, Paul Finebaum hasn’t held back even once when talking about Michigan football — he even said that a Michigan national title won’t count in his eyes if the Wolverines are to win it all this season.

I am sure interested to see how ESPN and Paul Finebaum respond, but it’s nice to hear someone finally say what all Michigan fans are thinking about Finebaum.
