HOUSTON — While the Wolverines’ offensive line was not the Joe Moore Award-winner this year, as it was the past two seasons, it still had some elite players. One such example is Michigan football lineman Drake Nugent, a first-year transfer center, who revealed his NFL Draft decision after yesterday’s National Championship victory over Washington.

Michigan football lineman Drake Nugent reveals NFL Draft choice after National Championship Game

After Michigan football downed Washington 34-13 in the National Championship Game, offensive line standout Drake Nugent had a chance to explain what comes next in regard to the NFL Draft. To clarify, Nugent does have a year of eligibility remaining and could come back, though it does not sound like that’s in the cards.

“I have one year left, from the COVID-19 (season), but I’m gonna go,” he said on Monday.

Nugent’s decision comes as no real surprise to those familiar with how impressive he has been all season — the senior center earned the starting job out of fall camp, and since, was named a first-team All-Big Ten selection (coaches/media) and was a Rimington Trophy finalist (nation’s best center).

A few other Michigan football stars also have NFL decisions to make, but for now, it appears that Drake Nugent has made up his mind. If we just watched Nugent play his final game in the Maize and Blue, we wish the first-year Wolverine nothing but success wherever he may land!
