Monday morning, many sources reported that Michigan football is set to make a massive coaching hire. Jim Harbaugh will reportedly be reuniting with former assistant Chris Partridge in 2023 — an enormous hire for the Wolverines, to say the least.
Who is Chris Partridge?
Patrdige is a massive addition to the Michigan football coaching staff for many reasons; namely, he is an impressive defensive mind and a monster on the recruiting trail. Partridge saw action on Michigan’s sideline during the first five years of the Jim Harbaugh era (2015-2019) before moving on to Ole Miss.
Partridge was the Wolverines’ director of player personnel for one season before moving to coach special teams for two seasons. He also coached linebackers for two years and safeties for two years.
After helping Michigan achieve four 9-win and three 10-win seasons in the first five years of Jim Harbaugh’s tenure, Partridge was picked up by Lane Kiffen at Ole Miss. During his time at Ole Miss, he established more recruiting ties in the south and gained more experience as a football coach. Partridge coached for three seasons at Ole Miss — he worked with safties and was the Rebels’ play-calling defensive coordinator last season.
Partridge is a massive hire for Michigan football
To say this is a big-time hire would be an understatement. While Partridge’s new role with Michigan football is still unclear at this time, having him on staff is a massive addition for Jim Harbaugh & Co.
As we head into the 2023 season this fall, Chris Patrdige’s presence could turn out to be a deciding factor in the Wolverines’ success on the field and on the recruiting trail.
