Today marks the official start of the 2023 college football season! Michigan’s football won’t play until next weekend, but that hasn’t stopped Wolverine legend Desmond Howard from unveiling his official College Football Playoff and national title game predictions earlier today. Let’s take a look at how the former Michigan Heisman winner envisions the upcoming season for the Maize and Blue.

Desmond Howard: Michigan football over Alabama for the national title

Last year, Desmond Howard revealed his College Football Playoff picks, which were met with heavy criticism, and perhaps rightfully so. He selected Baylor, Texas A&M, Michigan, and Pitt. While three of these picks were far from accurate, Michigan football salvaged his bracket by securing a spot in the Fiesta Bowl at No. 2 with an impressive 13-0 record.

This year, Howard is once again placing high hopes on the Wolverines, predicting that Michigan will emerge as the ultimate victors against the Alabama Crimson Tide by the end of the season. According to Desmond Howard, the following four teams will make an appearance in the CFP in 2023-24: Michigan, Florida State, Alabama, and Texas. This marks another year of controversial choices for the former Wolverine.

According to Howard’s selections, Michigan football and the Alabama Crimson Tide are slated to face off later this year, marking their first encounter since 2020. This time, Howard anticipates a Michigan victory, which would secure the team’s first national title since the 1997 season.

Whether Desmond Howard’s predictions hold any weight or not, his belief in Michigan football’s potential to secure a national championship is an idea that many across the country are beginning to embrace.
