How did Michigan football grade out in the loss to Washington?

Pro Football Focus (PFF) released its grades from the Wolverines’ 27-17 loss, and here’s how the numbers looked:

Full PFF Grades for Michigan Football vs Washington (Week 6)

Highest-Graded Wolverines vs Washington

Despite many poor grades, a few Michigan football players still stood out. 👇

  • Edge Josaiah Stewart: 91.1
  • DT Mason Graham: 86.7
  • DT Rayshaun Benny: 79.1
  • DT Kenneth Grant: 78.7
  • WR Amorion Walker: 75.7
  • RB Donovan Edwards: 73.5

Four of the top-5 graded Wolverines were on the defensive side of the ball, with defensive end Josaiah Stewart leading the way with a grade of 91.1. Right behind Stewart was defensive tackle Mason Graham with an 86.7 grade. Rayshaun Benny (79.1) & Kenneth Grant (78.7) rounded out the best defensive grades.

On the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver Amorion Walker had a grade of 75.7 – albeit with only nine snaps to his name.

Running back Donovan Edwards had his best game of the year, ending with 95 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Edwards was given a grade of 73.5, which is his highest grade since he was given a 77 against Arkansas State in Week 3.

Most Disappointing Grades for Wolverines vs Washington

It was a rough night for U-M in its first road game and, unsurprisingly, resulted in these disappointing grades.👇

Of course, the starting quarterback’s grade of 49.2 is an obvious detriment to success, mostly because of his two turnovers. However, what’s more concerning is that no Michigan offensive lineman had a higher grade than 70. On top of that, no receiver except Amorion Walker had graded out higher than 57.3 (Peyton O’Leary). The lowest-graded receiver was Kendrick Bell (53.3), who played the most snaps among them.

Looking at the defense, it only gets worse. The lowest-graded player on the team was defensive back Zeke Berry, who had a 41.5 grade in 48 snaps. Meanwhile, cornerback Jyaire Hill was second-worst at 47.2 with a team-leading 69 snaps.

Even Will Johnson, a projected top-10 pick in next year’s draft, scored a career-low 53.8 grade.
