Today, three Michigan football players addressed the media — Max Bredeson (tight end), Kenneth Grant (defensive tackle), and Jaydon Hood (linebacker). With some massive Jim Harbaugh suspension news breaking just an hour before today’s availability, these three were asked their thoughts on Harbaugh’s suspension — here is how they reacted to the news and how the program is moving forward.

Today, Jim Harbaugh addressed his team and informed them that he and the university are going to self-impose a three-game suspension, covering the entirety of this year’s non-conference schedule. This is huge news for the program, which is now in search of an interim head coach ahead of the Wolverines’ season opener, which is in just 12 days.

Kenneth Grant

Here is what Michigan football defensive tackle Kenneth Grant said when asked about the Jim Harbaugh suspension news.

“I can’t really get into what he told us, but we ride behind him,” Grant said. “We’re definitely going to bring some fire to the field. In the next three games, we’re gonna rally behind him for sure … I was surprised a little bit, but it really doesn’t affect us. The group of guys we’ve got, we’re really resilient, so we’re gonna come with even more firepower.”

Finally, all of this appears to be put to rest — is Kenneth Grant glad that it’s in the rearview?

“…Like I said, it doesn’t really affect us that much,” he said. “We rally behind coach (Jim Harbaugh) — whatever the decision is, we’re gonna stand by it and play our game, Michigan football. We’re gonna come out and do what we do.”

Max Bredeson

Following Grant’s availability, tight end Max Bredeson was asked a series of similar questions regarding the status of Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh.

“Not much to really talk about,” Bredeson said. “This is a pretty focused team, so everything that happened there, we kind of just kept to ourselves. Like I said, focused team, driven, so we’ll be fine … I mean, you always get surprised by random news, but this is a very focused team. We just saw it as ‘We have practice later, and we’re going to keep pushing doing the same thing we’ve been doing.”

Jaydon Hood

Breakout linebacker Jaydon Hood was third up today. Here is what he said of the Jim Harbaugh suspension news.

“I think everybody took it well,” Hood confidently stated. “We’re going to back anything that goes on with coach Harbaugh or anybody on the staff, teammates, whatever. Like coach Harbaugh says, ‘Get better, not bitter,’ and that’s exactly what we’re gonna do.”

Michigan football players remain laser-focused on the coming season

With the coming season just over 10 days away from kicking off, it is clear that this year’s Michigan football roster is honed in on the task at hand: win each week and play for the national title. Even today’s Jim Harbaugh suspension news cannot shake the 2023 Wolverines, which is an amazing sign for the program’s future.
