The Michigan football defensive line is looking elite right now.

This year, the Michigan football defensive line is looking quite a bit different than it did a season ago. Instead of Mike Morris and Mazi Smith — both All-Big Ten standouts from 2022 — the Wolverines have rising stars like Kris Jenkins, Braiden McGregor, and more. According to Jim Harbaugh, who addressed the media on Tuesday afternoon, the Wolverines’ defensive line is looking better than most fans probably anticipated.

Over the weekend, Michigan football had a series of scrimmages in the Big House (Michigan Stadium), once again putting the final touches on fall prep ahead of Week 1, which is just 18 days away. According to 9th-year head coach, while the Wolverines’ offensive line is looking elite, the Michigan football defensive line has been getting the better of it lately.

“Everybody in there is doing a heck of a job,” Jim Harbaugh said of his offensive and defensive lines. “We had a goal-line scrimmage yesterday and a short yardage scrimmage Saturday, and I would even say that, as good as the offensive line has been, the defense and the defensive line probably got the better of it. The 51% I would send that way (to the defensive line).

Which defensive line stars should Wolverines fans keep an eye on this year?

“Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, Kris Jenkins, Cam Goode have really excelled,” Harbaugh continued. “And then we’re super strong at the edge position. Jaylen Harrrel (has excelled) … Braiden McGregor, Derek Moore, and Josaiah Stewart as well. TJ Guy is a guy who’s asserted himself at that position.”

So far during fall camp, Kris Jenkins has been getting more praise than just about anyone on the team, so make sure to keep a close eye on him, as well as the entire Michigan football defensive line, throughout the next few months.
