No. 10 Michigan football will line up across the field from Washington this Saturday, Oct. 5, for the first time since the 2024 National Championship.
Nearing the halfway point of the season, the Wolverines still have plenty of unanswered questions. So, these are the Wolverines we’re watching closest against the Huskies. 👇
NEW: A New Gem Rising for the Defense
Offense
RB Kalel Mullings
No surprise here. Mullings is off to a scorching start in 2024, and he’s had two rushing touchdowns in three straight games heading into Washington. Blake Corum ran all over the Huskies in the natty, and although both teams look much different in terms of players and coaches, the Wolverines will likely try to do the same thing this time around with Mullings.
WR Semaj Morgan (Hopeful to Return from Injury)
If the Michigan offense can produce an explosive play in the passing game, there’s reason to believe it could come from the second year speedster Morgan. In Washington’s week two loss to Washington State, the Huskies gave up a combined 11 catches, 161 yards and two touchdowns to receivers of Morgan’s ilk. If Morgan gets an opportunity, he could take the top off of the Washington defense.
RB Donovan Edwards
Edwards hasn’t had the start to the 2024-2025 campaign most projected, but he’s likely looking forward to playing Washington again. Edwards electrified the Wolverine offense in the national championship with a 104 yard, two touchdown performance on just six carries. Edwards seems to be back in a supplementary role, so he might be able to change the pace, and the entire game, once again.

Defense
S Makari Paige
Paige is ranked third on the Wolverine defense with 20 tackles, and he also has two pass deflections and an interception through five weeks. Paige will likely be flying all over the field on October 5 as Washington tends to throw the ball more than run.
Edge Josiah Stewart (Hopeful to Play)
Stewart leads Michigan with four sacks so far this season. With much of the opposing offensive line’s attention going to Mason Graham, and deservedly so, Stewart has had quality opportunities to wreak havoc, and he’s taken advantage.
CB Jyaire Hill
Hill has been a key contributor to the Michigan defense in 2024. Hill caught his first career interception against Minnesota on Saturday, and he has seemed to get better every week. If Will Johnson still isn’t 100%, it could open the door for Hill to keep his stock on the rise.
