Michigan football has only landed one commitment under head coach Sherrone Moore so far, but after landing near five-star Nate Marshall on Monday, you can feel more is coming.

Another recruit who could be joining the class at some point, at least if recent events are any indication, is Ohio running back Marquise Davis.

Michigan trending up with Marquise Davis

Michigan football was basically out of the mix before it hired Tony Alford as the running backs coach. Since then, Davis has visited the Wolverines twice and visited again on Tuesday. Steve Wiltfong of On3.com wrote on Monday that he “likes” where the Wolverines sit with Davis.

Josh Henschke of the Maize and Blue Review posted on X that Michigan football is making “significant strides” in the recruitment of Davis. That was all positive news, but now, a couple of recruiting experts from 247 Sports have put in crystal ball projections for Davis to commit to Michigan.

Marquise Davis crystal balled to Michigan

Allen Trieu of 247 Sports and Tom Loy — two national analysts focused on the Midwest — each put in projections within a minute of each other for Davis to Michigan. Crystal balls aren’t commitments, but these feel pretty important. The fact that they aren’t coming from team reporters is also a positive in my view.

At 6-foot, 210 pounds, Davis is ranked 166th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s ranked as the No. 7 player in Ohio and is the No. 11 running back. He’s got offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, USC, Florida, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Kentucky, and more.

However, with Michigan putting on the full-court press, and an official visit set for June, it feels like the Wolverines are the team to beat. Now, they just need to close.
