Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy has been nothing short of stellar so far this year. Tomorrow, the former five-star talent turned Wolverine sensation will take the field as Michigan’s starter for the third time this fall; this time, against the Bowling Green State Falcons. Due to his impressive performances in Weeks one and two, McCarthy is now pinned as a top 10 NFL Draft pick in multiple updated mock drafts from CBS Sports.

NFL Draft buzz continues to grow for Michigan football quarterback

Today, CBS Sports updated three new NFL Draft projections, two of which pin elite Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy as a top 10 pick in next spring’s draft. McCarthy — who took over as QB1 for the Wolverines last fall and has seen tons of success ever since — continues to impress and climb in the NFL Draft projections this fall.

Two mock drafts pin JJ McCarthy as a top-10 pick next year

The first mock NFL Draft that lists JJ McCarthy among the top 10 picks is from Chris Trapasso, who pins the Michigan football quarterback as the No. 10 pick in the 2024 cycle. He has McCarthy going to the Seattle Seahawks, where he would reunite with ex-Michigan football star center Olu Oluwatimi, who was JJ’s top lineman in 2022.

The second new mock draft that pins JJ McCarthy as a top 10 NFL Draft pick is from Josh Edwards, who has JJ going 6th overall next year. With the No. 6 pick, the star Michigan football quarterback would end up in Tampa Bay, which is in need of a new quarterback now that fellow Wolverine Tom Brady decided to officially retire.

So far this year, JJ McCarthy has completed over 87% of his passes for 558 yards, five touchdowns (all of which were caught by Roman Wilson), and no interceptions. JJ’s QBR of 95.3 is the best in the country heading into Week 3, which pits Michigan football against Bowling Green under the lights at the Big House — the Wolverines’ first night game of the 2023 season.
