If you think that the Wolverines are going to get comfortable due to their recent success against the Ohio State Buckeyes, think again. Yesterday, during a podcast interview on ‘Bussin with the Boys,’ third-year Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy explained his mentality and approach to “The Game” and broke down how seriously the Wolverines are taking the 2023 season, hoping for a third-straight win over OSU.

Before the 2021 season, it seemed as if Michigan football may never overcome Ohio State ever again. That said, a massive 42-27 win over Ohio State two years ago changed everything, and last year’s 45-23 victory in Columbus cemented the Wolverines’ place back at the top of the Big Ten conference.

Still, if you thought that Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy and his teammates would roll over due to this success, you would be wrong. In fact, JJ McCarthy says that Michigan is constantly hunting the Ohio State Buckeyes in order to remain the No. 1 team in the conference.

“I feel like we’re not sitting there thinking that we’re 2-0 against them,” Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy explained. “We’re hunting them always. We’re never going to feel like we’re hunted by them. It’s always just chasing them, no matter what it is, and just doing what we’re continuing to do.”

JJ McCarthy also explained that the Michigan State Spartans and Penn State Nittany Lions are among the team’s top priorities heading into the 2023 season, though both of those teams are just boxes to check. Michigan’s ultimate goals are beating Ohio State, winning the Big Ten, making the College Football Playoff, and claiming a national title — the only way that the Wolverines can accomplish this is by taking the coming season one week at a time.
