With the 2023 season just 12 days away, the hype surrounding junior Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy continues to grow. Last year, despite a few notable growing pains, the former five-star QB led his Wolverines to an impressive 13-1 finish with a Big Ten title and College Football Playoff berth to match. This year, it appears that McCarthy is taking massive strides in the right direction; in fact, earlier today, junior tight end Max Bredeson took to the podium and added to the hype surrounding McCarthy’s ability as the leader of Michigan’s offense.

Max Bredeson, a junior tight end for the Wolverines, has some high praise for Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy ahead of the coming season. From being an incredible leader to an elite passer, it is becoming clear that the Wolverines’ Big Ten title-winning QB is looking better than ever before during fall camp this year.

“A lot of really good stuff. He’s really just taking control. He’s a guy you just want to follow to battle. I don’t know how to explain it, but, when he’s in the huddle, you just feel confident in him. You feel like someone is gonna make a play. It’s funny, actually, I was a quarterback in high school, and we threw together with the same QB coach (Greg Holcomb), and you could feel it back then, too, just a natural leader. Born guy to take hold of a team.”

Are there any throws that JJ McCarthy has been struggling with? Maybe the deep ball, something he struggled with early on in 2022? Nope — according to Max Bredeson, JJ can make any throw on the field, something that fans got a glimpse of toward the end of last year.

“Honestly, I can’t see a pass that JJ can’t hit, to be honest,” Bredeson concluded.

Heading into the 2023 season, the Michigan football offense appears to be in good hands with junior JJ McCarthy at the helm for the second season in a row.
