EA Sports offered a deep dive into the gameplay for “College Football 25” on Friday. We also got a look at how Michigan football might be rated in the new video game that will be released in July.

Some of the team ratings were leaked. They are unofficial but Pro Football Focus shared them and they feel accurate enough. Overall, Michigan football fans should be pleased with the Wolverines ranking.

Michigan football checks in at a 93 overall according to PFF. The defense, which many expect to be among the best in college football, was rated a 93, while the offense ended as a 92.

Did EA get Michigan football rating right?

There’s not much to argue with, but it’s interesting that the Michigan football offense and defense are ranked as closely as they are. The Wolverines lost 10 starters from last season, which includes J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum, Roman Wilson, and a loaded offensive line.

Colston Loveland, a projected first-round pick at tight end, is back. So is Donovan Edwards, who is one of the cover athletes for the game after Michigan football won the national championship last season.

I believe in the U-M offense, especially if Alex Orji can be competent throwing the ball. If so, he would be a dangerous dual-threat and the running game, with an underrated RB room, could be elite.

It feels like the defense should be ranked higher though. Clemson is rated as a 95. I’m not saying Michigan should be better than every other team, but that rating seems a little off. Maybe the depth isn’t as strong which is probably fair, but the high-end talent is elite with three projected first-round picks.

Regardless, College Football 25 looks incredible and I for one, can’t wait to dominate the Big Ten with Michigan football.
