This weekend, Michigan football star Blake Corum and his Wolverines will hit the road to East Lansing for the first time since the infamous 2021 matchup — a game that Michigan lost, 37-33. For Corum, the 2021 game left an awful taste in his mouth, and he is looking forward to a second shot at the Michigan State Spartans.

Michigan football star excited for rematch against Michigan State Spartans

Michigan State football is off to an awful start this year. Right now, the Spartans are 2-4 (0-3 Big Ten) and are coming off of one of the most embarrassing losses in recent history — a blown 24-6 lead against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Because of this, and the opposite expectations surrounding the Maize and Blue right now, this year’s Michigan-Michigan State game is not garnering much hype.

That said, star running back Blake Corum is thrilled to get a second shot at the Spartans in their own stadium.

“After that game (in 2021), I remember we got back here late, I went straight to the weight room, got me a good pump in,” Blake Corum said. “A lot of emotions were going through there, obviously because of what happened. So I’m excited to get back.

“You know, I’m excited to be back in East Lansing,” he continued. “I’m just excited for another opportunity to play the game. That was my sophomore year, but I remember that for sure. So, I’m excited to get back and do my thing.”

Blake Corum and the Michigan football offense have been solid so far this fall; in fact, despite a slower start, there may not be a better unit in the country heading into Week 8. If Michigan can get past the Spartans without any major issues coming about, the Wolverines will take a perfect record into a well-deserved Week 9 bye.
