ANN ARBOR, Mich. — As a true freshman for the Wolverines during the 2022 season, Michigan football tight end Colston Loveland stepped right into the spotlight and shone brightly from the start. After helping the Wolverines down some of the best programs in America, such as Penn State and Ohio State, Loveland helped JJ McCarthy and the offense to an impressive 21-point win in the Big Ten title game. Heading into the 2023 season, Loveland has been described as “bigger, faster, and stronger,” and according to Sherrone Moore, he may have no ceiling at all.

Sophomore Michigan football tight end could be the best in the country

Since Jim Harbaugh got to Ann Arbor ahead of the 2015 season, the Michigan football offense has been heavily dependent on its tight ends. Nine years later, heading into the 2023 season, it appears that nothing will change in regards to the usage of tight ends, with both Colston Loveland and AJ BArner gearing up for massive seasons.

Earlier today, Michigan football offensive play-caller Sherrone Moore was asked about tight end Colston Loveland and what his potential is looking like ahead of the new season. According to Moore, his sophomore tight end could be the best in the nation.

“I don’t know if there is one (a ceiling for Colston Loveland); he could be as good as he wants to be,” said Sherrone Moore when asked about the potential of his sophomore Michigan football tight end. “He could be the best one (tight end) in the country. And I know there’s one down there down in Georgia who has been extremely good (Brock Bowers), and he’s a phenomenal player. But just very excited to see what Colston is and his progress.”

Sherrone Moore sings Loveland’s praises

If you were impressed with this standout Michigan football tight end last year, get ready, because he is looking bigger, faster, and stronger than ever before during fall camp this year.

“What he’s done already in training camp — he’s already gotten bigger, he’s already gotten stronger, he’s already gotten faster,” Moore explained. “He understands where everything is in the offense now, so you’re not spoon-feeding everything; you’re throwing it all out, but he gets it. I’m very excited to see him, and where he goes so he can be as good as anybody in the country. I think he’s an extraordinary player, and I’m just excited to have him here.”
