With many great players going to the NFL this offseason, Michigan football is set to look pretty different next year. Particularly, the Wolverines will lose two key pieces in their secondary with cornerbacks Josh Wallace and Mike Sainristil both leaving.

Knowing these secondary losses were coming, sophomore Amorion Walker switched positions from wide receiver to cornerback ahead of the 2023 season. However, even with two starting spots open for next year, Walker decided to enter the transfer portal and today announced his commitment to the Ole Miss Rebels.

Walker committed to the Wolverines in the 2022 class as a three-star recruit. In his freshman season, Walker saw very limited action as a receiver. During this season though, Walker took some snaps on both sides of the ball and experimented as a cornerback.

After transitioning to cornerback for the 2023 season, Walker’s playing time still remained minimal. Across his two years with the Wolverines, Walker amassed one reception for four yards and recorded four total tackles.

Still, the future remains bright for the young cornerback who has two more years of eligibility remaining. Unfortunately for Michigan fans, Walker announced last week that he had entered the transfer portal.

Today, news broke that Walker has committed to the Ole Miss Rebels, a top SEC program that finished 11-2 with a bowl win last season. Best of luck to Amorion Walker with his new team!
