Michigan football is on fire this weekend, at least according to the posts of head coach Sherrone Moore, who has hinted at three commitments on Saturday.

However, at least one of those might be coming from a recruit who visited earlier this week — Donovan Johnson. The four-star running back who is 6-foot, 205-pounds out of the IMG Academy. He is ranked No. 232 in the 2025 class and 17th among running backs according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Michigan football hosted Johnson for a visit earlier this week and the expert projections began to come in on Saturday starting with EJ Holland of The Wolverine. Steve Wilftong of On3.com also logged an expert projection, making me confident that the blue-chip running back will be a Wolverine.

Running backs coach Tony Alford also dropped a hint, re-posting Moore’s post, which tells you that Michigan likely gained a running back commitment this weekend.

If Michigan football can get a commitment from Johnson, it would be the 8th four-star commitment of the 2025 class. It would also give them a blue-chip back to pair with Jasper Parker, who should be a four-star running back. Just take a look at his offer sheet.

Johnson has some impressive offers too: Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Penn State, Texas A&M, USC, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech.

Johnson is a dynamic running back. He averaged 8.1 yards per carry the last time he was healthy but missed last season due to injury. That probably explains the dropoff in interest from some programs but if Johnson gets back to himself this season, Michigan might be getting a top-100 talent.
