The future of Michigan football appears to be bright as Jim Harbaugh currently holds the No. 2 recruiting class for 2024. Still, Michigan football continues to target more high-level players to make the class even better, including four-star Notre Dame decommit Owen Wafle, who is now trending towards landing in Ann Arbor according to new crystal ball projections.
Owen Wafle decommits from Notre Dame, receives crystal ball for Michigan
Earlier today, four-star edge rusher Owen Wafle decommitted from Notre Dame. Wafle posted his decommitment to Twitter and it reads as follows:
In addition to Notre Dame, Wafle received scholarship offers from Boston College, Duke, Iowa, and most importantly, Michigan. With Notre Dame no longer in the picture, many experts are projecting Wafle to commit to Michigan to strengthen the 2024 recruiting class even more.
Since decommitting, Wafle has received five crystal balls from some of the top 247 Sports insiders. Wafle’s decommitment was surprising to many but could be huge for Michigan football if he decides to become a Wolverine.
What Wafle would mean for Michigan football
This offseason, Michigan football lost two of its top defensive line players with Mike Morris and Mazi Smith being taken in the NFL Draft. Wafle would make a big addition to Michigan’s defensive line in the future.
Wafle’s 6’3” 290-pound frame would make him a great candidate to help the run defense on the interior defensive line. However, Wafle is currently listed as an edge rusher on 247 Sports, meaning he also possesses the ability to get after the quarterback in pass-rush situations.
Wafle currently plays football at Hun High School in Princeton, NJ. As of today, Wafle is a four-star recruit and is ranked No. 30 in edge rush prospects on 247 Sports composite rankings.
