Michigan football welcomed multiple highly-touted recruits for official visits over the weekend. The Wolverines seem to have gained some ground in the recruiting of several top targets, including five defensive lineman.
As Victors Weekend wrapped up, head coach Sherrone Moore posted his signature eye emoji, signaling big news could be on the horizon.
Positive signs come from top recruits after visiting Michigan
Three-star EDGE Tariq Boney committed to the Wolverines nearly a month ago, but he took a final visit over the weekend, partly to help with recruiting. Aside from Boney, Michigan hosted five-star EDGE Carter Meadows, four-star defensive lineman Titan Davis, four-star EDGE Jackson Ford and four-star EDGE Julian Walker.
The Wolverines are the favorite to land Davis, according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, with an 85.4 percent chance. Alabama is the closest with a 4.0 percent chance.
According to the RPM, Michigan is No. 2 in the race for Meadows, Ford and Walker. For Meadows, the Wolverines (22.7%) sit behind Penn State (31.1%). The Nittany Lions also have the highest chance to land Ford (27.6%), with Michigan (20.8%) and Ohio State (12%) playing catch up. Walker could be a long-shot, as South Carolina has a 91.8 percent chance to bring him in.
Five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell took an official visit to Ann Arbor over the weekend as well. Russell will make his decision on July 5.
Other players that visited for Victors Weekend: four-star OL Malakai Lee, four-star DL Deuce Geralds, four-star OL Zaden Krempin and four-star safety Blake Stewart. Most of these recruits are expected to make their respective decision over the next couple of weeks.
