This weekend, Michigan football extended its win streak with a dominant 41-13 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers. Junior quarterback JJ McCarthy continued his Heisman run with another impressive performance in the passing game, amassing 335 yards from 24 completions. McCarthy’s go-to receiver Roman Wilson was a huge part of the passing game success this weekend as Wilson set two new career-high statistics.
Michigan football wide receiver Roman Wilson sets new career highs
Last offseason, Michigan football lost Ronnie Bell to the NFL draft, leaving the Wolverines without a clear-cut WR1 on the depth chart. However, after just a few games, it was clear that McCarthy had found a new go-to guy in Roman Wilson.
This past weekend, McCarthy and Wilson flashed their chemistry again, connecting nine times from 10 targets. Wilson finished the day with 143 yards receiving.
For Wilson, this marks a new career high in both completions and receiving yards. While Wilson didn’t catch any touchdowns this weekend, he still remains tied for first in the Big Ten with 10 receiving touchdowns (tied with Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr.).
Michigan football is now entering the hardest stretch in their schedule. Next weekend, the Wolverines head to Beaver Stadium to take on 11th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions. The Wolverines will stay on the road to play Maryland before returning home to take on Ohio State for the final game of the regular season.
