Much of the focus this weekend was on the NFL draft and rightfully so. For Michigan football, it was a rousing success with a program record 13 draft picks. 11 of those 13 players got drafted higher than they were rated as recruits, which should be a selling point on the trail.

Michigan football had some key players on campus this weekend and one of them was a current Purdue commitment and 5-star recruit according to the On3 Industry rankings, Tarrion Grant.

Grant is 6-foot-3, 175 pounds, and is ranked 38th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee but his On3.com recruiting profile shows just one visit to Purdue before he made his commitment, which was in January.

Michigan football pushing for a flip

Lamar Morgan, the new Michigan football secondary coach, has taken over as his primary recruiter and is working hard on a flip. According to Zach Libby of The Wolverine, Morgan has been contacting Grant on a daily basis. When you see the kids’ tape and realize that the runs the 100-meter dash in 10.82, you’ll see why.

The Wolverines have an affinity for big cornerbacks — just look at Will Johnson and Jyaire Hill. DJ Waller and Amorion Walker were in that boat too. Walker is now projected to come back as a cornerback. Waller transferred to Kentucky.

Still, Michigan football loves long, athletic cornerbacks, and Grant certainly fits the mold. It was just one visit and he was part of a group but still, it’s a positive sign. Purdue generally doesn’t have many top-100 commitments and Michigan is smart to make the Boilermakers work to hold onto it.
