Michigan football will have more questions than answers when this season is over. No matter which position group you point to, the Wolverines have their work cut out for them in terms of filling shoes. Head coach Sherrone Moore said he’s looking everywhere.
Mid-Season Recruiting Mindset
“You got to figure out how you want to build a program, whether it’s in the high school range or all in the portal or a mix of both,” Moore said on Monday. “We’re always going to rely on our high school players and the guys we want to build from within and keep the culture. But yeah, you’re going to have those transfer guys to supplement different spots, which we have and continue to do.”
Michigan has exploded with recruiting since the season started. Recently, Michigan flipped four-star wide receiver Shamari Earls from Georgia and landed five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola. Moore said the program has been able to get through to its recruits this year.
“I think they see the atmosphere, I think they see what has happened,” Moore said. “I think they understand the vision that we explain to them and what this is going to be like. It’s been pretty positive. We’ve gotten some good commitments and got some good guys to join the family and look to continue that trend.”
The Wolverines have upped their pursuit of No. 1 recruit Bryce Underwood (LSU commit), and they lost a quarterback commit in the process. Moore was asked about the quarterback situation of the future and offered a coy response.
“We’ll be fine.”
