Michigan primarily used Orji as a runner. As a freshman in 2022 Orji ran for 37 yards on six carries for two touchdowns. In his sophomore season he saw more work and ran for 86 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. In the national championship win over Washington Orji took two carries for 15 yards.

Through ten games this season Orji completed 53 percent of his passes (23 of 44) for 148 yards and three touchdowns. On the ground he accumulated 260 yards on 53 carries (4.9 average) and one touchdown. Orji went 2-1 as a starter with wins over USC and Minnesota. He was replaced by Jack Tuttle in a loss against Washington.

The 6-foot-3, 235 pound QB hails from Sachse, Texas. Orji was a four-star recruit out of high school and was committed to Virginia Tech before ultimately signing with the maize and blue. Michigan has four quarterbacks set to be on the roster in 2025: senior Davis Warren, freshman Jadyn Davis, No. 1 recruit Bryce Underwood and three-star signee Chase Herbstreit.
