This fall, Michigan Wolverines football senior defensive tackle, Kris Jenkins, is looking to take on a much larger role with the Maize and Blue than what he has seen in the past. Heading into the new season, the Wolverines need Jenkins to step up and fill the big shoes of Mazi Smith, who was a first-round draft pick for the Dallas Cowboys following an impressive season in Ann Arbor during the 2022 season.
The Michigan Wolverines football program is Kris Jenkins’ home
With a lot on the line this year for the Michigan Wolverines football program, senior defensive tackle Kris Jenkins appears poised for a new, much more notable role in Ann Arbor throughout the coming months. Ahead of the 2023 season, Jenkins has made it clear that he loves his school and football program and is ready for bigger and better things this fall.
“You gotta take this pain with you, and bring that to the winter training cycle,” Kris Jenkins said about Michigan’s College Football Playoff loss. you gotta bring that with you to spring ball, to summer training camp. You gotta run with it. This is what’s going to fuel us to do what we do this upcoming season … Our biggest goal as a defensive line this year is how can we make the quarterback fear us? How can we impact him? How can we stop his game?”
A major factor in the turnaround of the Michigan football program over the past few years has been the culture instilled by Jim Harbaugh in the locker room. According to Kris Jenkins, there is no place in the world he would rather be; it feels like home to him.
“This is my favorite place to be. This place is my home. The family here, what we got going here, the culture here, everything that we’ve been building up to this point, that’s what I’m really excited for. We’re gonna grind, we’re gonna work, we’re gonna dominate. That’s just what we do.”
