Michigan women’s tennis (25-4, 13-0 Big Ten) took down Youngstown State and Arizona State, respectively, with 4-0 victories last weekend to advance to the third round of the NCAA tournament. It marks the third year in a row the Wolverines are hosting a Super Regional, with wins over Virginia in 2023 and Miami in 2024.
Texas is on the slate this time around.
Wolverines looking to advance to NCAA quarterfinals
Michigan came in as the No. 3 seed for the second straight season. The Wolverines took down the Longhorns in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship earlier this year by a score of 4-1. The maize and blue got singles wins from Piper Charney, Julia Fliegner, Lily Jones and Reese Miller.
Charney has 34 singles wins on the season, and she is paired with Emily Sartz-Lunde at third in the doubles lineup. Michigan’s top doubles pair is made up of Jones and Jessica Bernales, and Miller and Fliegner are second.
Following this weekend, the final three rounds of the tournament will take place at Baylor in Waco, TX. The Wolverines are looking for their first ever team national championship.
Michigan is undefeated (13-0) at home this season and is in search of its fourth quarterfinal appearance in program history.
