After winning the national championship, many Wolverines are now looking ahead to the start of their professional football careers. Michigan football has a plethora of NFL talent on its roster, and could even set the NFL Draft record for most players taken from a college in a single draft. Recently, Michigan football offensive stars JJ McCarthy, Blake Corum, and Roman Wilson, among others, have recently declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.
More Michigan football stars continue to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft
JJ McCarthy – QB
After finishing 15-0 and winning the national championship, JJ McCarthy doesn’t have much to prove at Michigan. Still, fans remained optimistic that he could return for a senior season and run things back one more time. Ultimately, news broke yesterday of McCarthy’s decision to leave for the NFL Draft.
The future at quarterback for Michigan football remains unknown as the two-year starter begins his professional career. Michigan has rising stars Alex Orji and Jayden Denegal waiting for their chance, but the Wolverines could choose to hit the transfer portal as well.
Blake Corum – RB
To no surprise, Michigan’s own “Blake the Great” Corum is declaring for the NFL Draft. Corum gave Michigan two phenomenal seasons as RB1 and has proven himself as one of the greatest running backs to ever wear maize and blue.
Currently, Corum is only projected as a third-round draft pick on NFL Draft Buzz, primarily because of his smaller size compared to most NFL running backs. However, Corum has shown time and time again on film that he can be a deadly ballcarrier.
Roman Wilson – WR
Last year, Roman Wilson was a crucial part of the Wolverines offense but mostly played the role of a speedy route-runner. This season, however, Wilson proved that he can be an all-around star at the wide receiver position. He showed flashes of greatness in contested catches, run after catch, and continued to display his speed which has been impressive ever since his start at Michigan.
After his impressive season, Wilson is now projected to be a third-round draft pick.
Drake Nugent and Trevor Keegan – OL
Michigan football is looking to send its entire offensive line from the 2023 season to the NFL. Tackles Ladarius Henderson and Karsen Barnhart, as well as guard Zak Zinter, have already announced their intentions to go to the draft this year.
Now, the entire offensive line appears to be declaring for the draft, as center Drake Nugent and guard Trevor Keegan made the official announcement yesterday. The 2024 NFL Draft will be held right here in Michigan in Detroit on April 25-27.
