Earlier this week, the official Week 3 AP poll was released. With Michigan football currently boasting a perfect record (and coming off of two elite seasons), the Wolverines are pinned as the No. 2 team nationally in the AP and coaches polls this week; however, there are multiple ballots that have the Maize and Blue ranked as the nation’s No. 1 team. Here are the most notable ballots for the Wolverines heading into the Bowling Green game this weekend.

Breaking down Michigan football AP poll ballots —

Michigan football has been ranked 2nd in every preseason poll, as well as the Week 1 and Week 2 AP polls. That said, there are a few who disagree — in this week’s ballots, the Wolverines are pinned as low as No. 6 and as high as No. 1.

Who has Michigan as the No. 1 team in the nation?

This week, heading into the final non-conference game on the 2023 Michigan football schedule, two AP poll ballots have Michigan as the No. 1 team in the nation:

  • Kirk Bohls — The Austin-American Statesman
  • Robert Cessna — Bryan-College Station Eagle

Who has Michigan football outside of the top 5?

After failing to cover the spread in consecutive weeks against lesser opponents, one AP poll ballot has Michigan football outside of the top 5:

  • Dave Reardon — The Honolulu Star Advertiser (No. 6)

The vast majority of the ballots have the Maize and Blue pinned as the No. 2 team in the country right now; however, there are also a good amount of votes for No. 3 and No. 4 this week. At the moment, there are eight votes for 4th place and 12 votes for 3rd place.

Michigan football will likely remain at No. 2 until (if) the Wolverines drop a game. That said, if the Georgia Bulldogs fall, there is a chance that Jim Harbaugh’s squad could climb to No. 1 in the AP poll this year.
