NCAA investigation into Michigan football ‘hasn’t found much’

The latest reporting on the NCAA investigation into Michigan football is that the NCAA hasn’t found much on the Wolverines.

I for one can’t wait for the NCAA investigation into alleged sign-stealing by Michigan football to end. It doesn’t need to drag on forever and there is still reporting from Chris Balas of The Wolverine that it could be done in the coming months.

The NCAA takes forever to do anything. We don’t even know if that was Connor Statlions on the sideline for the Central Michigan game against Michigan State.

Fans have speculated, especially rival fans of Michigan football, but if Central Michigan didn’t invite Stalions to be there (if that was him) then why hasn’t it been reported? Why don’t we know what happened?

It always made sense to me that he was there for Central Michigan. Or at least it was someone on the coaching staff’s idea. At any rate, Balas also reported that the NCAA investigation into Michigan football “hasn’t found much.”

I don’t find that the least bit surprising. But it’s true that reporting hasn’t always been accurate on this scandal, like when most on the Michigan side of things thought Harbaugh would get an injunction and avoid a three-game penalty.

That didn’t happen in the end. So the NCAA could still try to come up with some punishment for Michigan football that goes beyond what actually happened. But I don’t see the hamper being dropped. That just doesn’t make sense especially the idea of wins being vacated when the NCAA President already said Michigan won the national championship, “Fair and square.”

Ohio State fans can hold onto the hope that the “hammer” will get dropped by the NCAA but it’s really hard to see that happening.
