Yesterday evening, Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines (12-0, 9-0 Big Ten) moved up to No. 2 in the nation following their 30-24 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes last weekend. While Michigan’s season remains alive and well, taking on No. 16 Iowa (10-2, 7-2) this weekend in the Big Ten title game, the Maize and Blue are already starting to prep for the 2024 season. Here is all the latest on 2024 Michigan football transfer portal target Joey Slackman.

New Michigan football transfer portal target

Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football were magnificent in the transfer portal last offseason, with the Wolverines bringing in some fantastic talents for their elite 2023 roster. Drake Nugent (center), AJ Barner (tight end), James Turner (kicker), Ernest Hausmann (linebacker), Josaiah Stewart (edge rusher), and more have all been crucial parts of Michigan’s impressive 12-0 season thus far.

Jim Harbaugh offers UPenn defensive lineman Joey Slackman

On Tuesday, it was made official that Michigan football has a new transfer portal target in mind: UPenn defensive lineman Joey Slackman, the No. 1 defensive tackle in the transfer portal right now. Slackman is a 2023 first-team All-Ivey League defensive tackle and could fill a major need along the defensive line, with Kris Jenkins and others likely heading out the door after the 2023 season comes to an end.

In 2023, Slackman appeared in nine games for UPenn, recording 50 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and four sacks throughout the year.

Other notable Power 5 offers for Slackman

Some of Jim Harbaugh’s most notable competition for Joey Slackman include teams like Florida, Miami, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Colorado, Washington, and more. It’s also worth noting that many other Big Ten teams, like Wisconsin, Illinois, Rutgers, and Northwestern, are also among the first to offer him.

The 2023 season is — hopefully — far from over for Michigan football, yet, Jim Harbaugh and the coaching staff are already hard at work in ensuring the 2024 roster will be just as competitive.
