The NCAA leaked a drafted notice of allegations targeting the Michigan football program and its prominent staff members, including former head coach Jim Harbaugh. The draft suggests several serious charges against the Michigan football team and its key figures.
Jim Harbaugh, who recently transitioned from Michigan to become the new head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, took time out of his new role to address the leaked draft. ESPN’s Dan Murphy and Ohio State mouth piece Pete Thamel were among those who reported on the allegations, which have stirred significant controversy in the sports world.
Former Michigan football head coach responds
Harbaugh, known for his quirky responses, was quick to dismiss the accusations. Through a statement relayed by Daniel Popper of The Athletic, Harbaugh conveyed his stance clearly: “Never lie. Never cheat. Never steal. I was raised with that lesson. I have raised my family on that lesson. I have preached that lesson to the teams that I’ve coached. No one’s perfect. If you stumble, you apologize and you make it right. Today, I do not apologize. I did not participate, was not aware nor complicit in those said allegations. So for (me), it’s back to work and attacking with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.”

In his characteristically direct and philosophical manner, Harbaugh dismissed the NCAA’s allegations, asserting his innocence and commitment to integrity. He could have said “no comment” here, but that’s not Jim Harbaugh. His response shows he’s focused on his new role with the Chargers and not letting the Michigan football allegations distract him. At the same time, he feels a responsibility to address the NCAA notice and remains committed to being a Michigan man for life.
