NFL draft is reminder Michigan football won with talent, not signs

Michigan football stole the show during the second day of the 2024 NFL draft, which is a reminder that the Wolverines won with superior talent.

Michigan football might have only had one first-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, but by the end of day two, with six more players selected, it’s easy to see why the Wolverines were so good this past season.

Michigan football now has had seven players drafted. They are aiming for 16, which would set an NFL draft record and there’s a great chance it happens on Saturday.

Michigan football has six players picked on day two

On Friday though, the Wolverines stole the show. Multiple times, Michigan football players were selected back-to-back. It happened in the second round with Kris Jenkins and Mike Sainrstil.

Then, in the third round, three Wolverines went in succession as Blake Corum, Roman Wilson, and Zak Zinter went to the Rams, Steelers, and Browns respectively. That pick was shortly after Junior Coslon was selected by former Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers.

Michigan football can break the draft record

What’s crazy is that five more offensive linemen could be drafted, along with guys like Cornelius Johnson, A.J. Barner, Jaylen Harrell, and Braiden McGregor. Josh Wallace and Michael Barrett are other candidates to get drafted as the Wolverines will likely have 18 guys who will end up on NFL rosters by the end of the weekend.

Rival fans, of course, are still saying Michigan football won because of cheating. Hell, you still have Michigan State fans calling J.J. McCarthy a “hand-off artist” even though he threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns, basically in a half against the Spartans, shredding them on numerous third-and-longs.

Ohio State fans say the same thing even though McCarthy accounted for four touchdowns and threw three TD passes of 45 yards or longer in the 2022 win over the Buckeyes. I don’t expect the draft haul to convince rival fans of what they should have seen with their own two eyes.

Michigan football had one of the best teams in college football history last season. They performed like it and won the national title fair and square. The lunatics can say it was the “signs”, but the 2024 NFL draft tells a different story — one that actually makes sense.

The Wolverines were a legendary team and those who can’t accept it, probably need to touch some grass.
